Jay-Z Opens Up About His Failed Collaboration With Beyoncé

It’s always a special treat to get a duet from two of our favorite artists, but sometimes plans for such a collaboration fall through. That was the case for Jay-Z and Beyoncé, awhile back. The two artists had planned to work on an album together, but Beyoncé ended up putting out Lemonade instead. Now, Jay-Z is opening up to let fans know why the collaboration fell through.
Jay-Z on How a Duet Turned Into Two Albums
Instead of working on that collaboration, Jay-Z and Beyoncé went their separate ways. Prior to that, the two artists were excited to be working together and diving into new music as a team was very much like a therapy session, says Jay-Z. Even though Beyoncé released her solo LP, Lemonade, instead of continuing on with the planned project, Jay-Z holds no resentment.
In fact, the artist implies he was right by the female vocalist’s side, while Lemonade was produced. He admits that Beyoncé was progressing faster on her solo work, so it made sense for her to go ahead with that project and let the collaboration take a backseat.
“So her album came out as opposed to the joint album that we were working on,” explained Jay-Z. “There was never a point where it was like, ‘I’m making this album.’ I was right there the entire time … It just felt like, she should go first and share her truths with the world.”
Jay-Z adds that his own solo release, 4:44, was never intended to throw shade at Beyoncé and shouldn’t be deemed a response to the Lemonade release in any way. He adds that the material the two artists did produce is still saved, so there may be hope yet that the collaborative effort may see the light of day. Fans should hold onto the hope that the collaboration between Jay-Z and Beyoncé will make it onto a release album.

Kendrick Lamar And Jay-Z Sweep The Grammy Nominations

Now that the latest Grammy nominations have been announced, Kendrick Lamar and Jay-Z have been revealed as the two artists with the most nominations. These brilliant hip-hop artists are very much part of the ongoing cultural conversation. With eight nominations, Jay-Z is certainly one of the the most celebrated hip-hop artists of the moment. Kendrick Lamar also received seven nominations related to his last album, which is entitled “DAMN.” Bruno Mars continued a personal tradition by receiving six Grammy nominations. Apparently, this will be a fairly eventful awards season. The 60th Grammy awards ceremony is scheduled for January 28, 2018. As usual, the ceremony will take place in New York’s famous Madison Square Garden.

Over the course of the next few years, it is likely that Jay-Z will continue to achieve financial success. Throughout his remarkable career, this artist has achieved many amazing things. I feel that rappers like this deserve a lot more recognition. Although Jay-Z and Kendrick Lamar have established successful careers, I believe these artists have not received enough recognition for their intellectual qualities. Even though I’m sure these two artists are happy to receive Grammy Awards, they probably feel they deserve more respect from serious cultural critics.

In particular, Kendrick Lamar has made quite a splash in the world of modern rap. As many commentators have noted, Lamar uses his verbal skills to elucidate and explore a number of social issues. When artists go to great lengths to achieve greatness, they usually receive critical acclaim. Unusually, Lamar has been able to combine critical accolades with a burgeoning commercial appeal. It is going to be tremendously exciting to see Lamar and Jay-Z achieve amazing things in the future. While there is still a chance that one of these artists will experience a commercial collapse, both of these rappers seem to be fairly resilient.
