Michael Lacey and his Extensive Knowledge of Mathematics.

Michael Lacey is a mathematician based in America, and he was born in 1959. He developed skills and interest in mathematics while he was still studying and that is when he decided to venture deep into the world of mathematics. He studied in the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he got his Ph.D. under the guidance of Walter Philipp.

As he started his mathematical career, he focused on ergodic theory, harmonic analysis, and probability. One of his first positions was at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he gave proof of the central limit theorem which was almost sure.

He had also worked at the Louisiana State University. He later went to start working at Indiana University where he was awarded a Postdoctoral fellowship from the National Science Foundation where he began studying the bilinear Hilbert transform. The transform made them receive an award called the Salem Prize because the transform became subject of a conjecture that Lacey and Christoph Thiele solved which was as a result of Alberto Calderon. Michael Lacey has been based at the Institute of Technology in Georgia where he was a professor.

His hard work and skills earned him a position to become a fellow of The American Mathematical Society, and he had also received the Guggenheim Fellowship after jointly working with Xiaochun Li. Michael Lacey has participated in many pieces of research and has also been able to support and train many undergraduate students with grants such as VIGRE and MCTP.

Michael has been considered as an excellent mentor by numerous students who he has trained. Most of them have been able to get academic and industry jobs especially his Ph.D. students. All his achievements have made him known as one of the greatest mathematicians around the world. Michael Lacey likes to solve many challenging mathematical questions which are presented to him by his students.

He also has a good personality, and that makes it easier for people to approach him and also share their ideas which he looks into and comes up with innovations in the mathematical world. His passion towards mathematics drives him so that he can establish new formulas.
